Description

Very Good 1804 Cent

1804 1C VG8 PCGS. S-266b, B-1, R.2. This is the intermediate die state with a heavy rim break over RTY on the obverse, but with no reverse rim break. Other 1804 cents exist with an additional rim break on the reverse over MERI, or without either rim break. These three major die states are known as S-266a, 266b, and 266c, and each is popular and collectible. This example is pleasing olive-brown with slightly lighter brown on the devices. A curved mark is noted beneath the left wreath ribbon end, and the obverse has a couple of thin vertical marks. EAC 5.(Registry values: N1793)
