1880 Dollar, MS65 Deep Mirror Prooflike
Rarely Finer

1880 $1 MS65 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. The issue is plentiful in non-Prooflike grades up to the Premium Gem level, thanks to generally high-quality strikes and a healthy mintage of 12.6 million pieces. Deep Mirror Prooflike examples, however, are challenging in all grades and become quite rare at Gem levels. This outstanding Morgan is boldly struck on deeply mirrored fields that produce impressive field-to-device contrast with the richly frosted devices. The razor-sharp devices are free of noticeable imperfections save for a couple of small ticks on the eagle's breast feathers, and the fields show only light grade-consistent marks. Eye appeal is quite pleasing, and PCGS shows just four numerically finer pieces (8/25).(Registry values: P4, N2998)
