Description
(1670-75) St. Patrick Farthing -- Uniface Strike -- VF35 PCGS. Martin 9a.2. 71.2 grains. The uniface strike precludes a reverse attribution to this piece that was probably created when two planchets entered the coining chamber simultaneously. The late Syd Martin mentioned various errors in the St. Patrick series, mostly minor in nature. The weight of this glossy chocolate-brown example is in the normal range without signs of post-striking alteration. A spectacular and highly important mint error in the St. Patrick series. Listed on page 38 of the 2024 Guide Book.Ex: E Pluribus Unum Collection (Stack's Bowers, 11/2020), lot 4033.
