Description
1880 Morgan Dollar, MS66+
Top-Certified Registry Coin
1880 $1 MS66+ PCGS. CAC. This mass-produced
Philadelphia dollar issue (12.6 million coins) is readily available
through MS65, expectedly so. It is surprisingly elusive in Premium
Gem condition, however, and it is conditionally rare in MS66+. This
CAC-endorsed coin is wholly brilliant with vibrant cartwheel
luster. The fields and cheek are clean, and although a touch of
strike softness occurs above Liberty's ear, the remaining devices
are sharp. This exceptionally pleasing Plus-graded Premium Gem
exhibits occasional golden accents on lustrous, surprisingly
unabraded surfaces. PCGS has certified only one numerically finer
example (9/25), keeping this piece a strong contender for Registry
sets.Ex: Internet Auction (Heritage, 2/2007), lot 13424; Baltimore Signature (Heritage, 7/2008), lot 2296; The Final Premier Session (Legend, 12/2018), lot 227; The Regency Auction 32 (Legend, 5/2019), lot 76.(Registry values: P4, N4719)
