Description
1909 Half Dollar, MS66
Lovely Eye Appeal
1909 50C MS66 PCGS. Besides being one of the finest known
from a technical standpoint, this Premium Gem 1909 Barber half also
possesses lovely eye appeal. Shimmering, frosty mint luster on each
side illuminates a blush of light golden toning. The eagle's talons
and right (facing) shoulder exhibit better-than-average sharpness,
and the surfaces are especially well-preserved.Population Data (4/15): PCGS reports only 14 MS66 (three in MS66+) with none finer, and NGC shows five MS66 and none finer.
Heritage Commentary: In the Choice and Gem grade levels, the 1909 is slightly more available than many earlier dates in the Barber half series, but its rarity in MS66 is largely unaffected.
Provenance: Purchased from Pinnacle Rarities (4/2008).(Registry values: N2998)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24N8, PCGS# 6516, Greysheet# 6570)
Weight: 12.50 grams
Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
