Description
Rare Deep Prooflike 1892 Columbian Half, MS65
1892 50C Columbian MS65 Deep Prooflike NGC. Many specialists would be hard put to differentiate between this Deep Prooflike half and an actual proof. PCGS does not certify Deep Mirror Prooflike Columbian halves. NGC has only certified four pieces, with this and one other the finest seen (10/09). The fields are remarkably deep in reflectivity, as expected, with light striations seen in the reverse fields. What does separate this coin from a proof, though, is the lack of high point definition on the sails and end curls of Columbus' hair. The surfaces are brilliant except for a slight accent of rose patina around the margins. Exceptional quality and eye appeal. From The Jerry Bagne Collection of Prooflike Commemoratives.
