1849 Norris, Gregg, & Norris Five
Reeded Edge, VF Details, K-4

1849 $5 Norris, Gregg, & Norris Five Dollar, Reeded Edge--Damaged--NCS. VF Details. K-4, R.4. Both sides have a smattering of small marks, as one might expect from a circulated territorial gold coin, but no "damage" is readily evident. Orange-red in design recesses, while the open fields and highpoints are yellow-gold. The first California private gold coiner, but quickly displaced by the well-run Moffat & Co. Listed on page 360 of the 2010 Guide Book.
