1793 WREATH CENT, AU55+
THE FROSSARD-GARRETT SHELDON-11B

1793 S-11b R4 Wreath Cent with Lettered Edge AU55+ PCGS, CAC Approved. Lettered Edge variety with two leaves following DOLLAR. Choice glossy light to medium brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints of the devices. Peeps of frosty tan faded down from mint color are nestled around the wreath. Smooth and very attractive with just a couple minor marks. A thin nick or tiny scratch nestled between the ends of the lowest two hair strands, a trivial rim nick below the right ribbon end (hidden under the PCGS tab), and a pair of dark spots off the left end of the wreath ribbon are the only notable defects. MDS, Breen state III, with strong die clashmarks in the field before the face where most of AMERICA (incuse of course) is clearly visible. Graded EF45 and CC# 2 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF45 and CC#3, his photo #28945. This cataloger's EAC grade is EF45. Comes with a very impressive, unbroken provenance that has been traced back nearly 140 years. The attribution and Garrett-Loring-Husak Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 62. 35474.55+/19974720.
