Dallas, Texas native D. Brent Pogue, who was born in 1964, earned an economics degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Following his graduation, Pogue worked as a real estate analyst for Goldman-Sachs on Wall Street, and later as an asset manager for Praedium Fund in Los Angeles. His numismatic interest began at age 10, and he went on to form what some consider the most valuable collection of American coins in private hands. Stack's Bowers and Sotheby's conducted multiple auctions of the collection beginning in 2015. Pogue was just 54 years old when he died in 2019.
