Ras Tafari (Haile Selassie) silver Pattern Proof Set EE1921 (1928), Gill-RT1-RT5, the extremely rare five coin set including the 1/20 (Gersh), 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 Birr (Talari) struck in 1928 at the Vienna Mint to celebrate the elevation of Ras Tafari from Regent to King (or Negus). Each obverse portrays Ras Tafari with crown and the simple legend "Negus Tafari" and the date below. The reverses show the Lion of Judah with the legend "Lion Cub - Ethiopia stretches her Hand to God" and the denomination below. Each piece is brilliant Proof with some faint hairlines. The first four types are reeded edge while the Birr is plain edge. Only the second set known; the other is in the Art-History Museum in Vienna. An incredible set combining exotic and artistic beauty with unquestioned rarity.
