Gorgeous Gem 1908-S Indian Five
1908-S $5 MS65 PCGS. Of the three Mints that produced Indian half eagles in 1908, San Francisco had the lowest output, with five-figure production of just 82,000 pieces. It is one of just three Indian half eagle issues with fewer than 100,000 coins produced, yet unlike the 1909-O and 1911-D issues, the 1908-S is not a condition rarity through most Mint State grades, though at the Gem level, even this highly saved issue begins to run short on supply. This impressively lustrous survivor shows vibrant and well-preserved yellow-orange surfaces. Aside from a touch of weakness at the lowest pendant on the necklace, the strike is crisp, and the overall visual appeal is excellent. Population: 42 in 65, 21 finer (9/08).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DG, PCGS# 8512, Greysheet# 9318)
