Description

Anhalt-Dessau. Leopold Friedrich Taler 1863-A MS62 NGC, Berlin mint, KM15, Kahnt-11. Mintage: 20,300. The principality went through numerous partitions since its inception in the 13th century; with a separation occurring in 1603, the area was subsequently raised to duchy of Anhalt-Dessau. All Anhalt lands were reunited under the Duchy of Anhalt in 1863. This piece was struck in commemoration of these events, with the obverse legends translated to read "Duchy of Anhalt / Divided 1603 United 1863".
