Description
1839 1C Head of 1838 MS65 Brown NGC. N-2, R.2. Our EAC Grade MS60. Ex: Mervis Collection. This intermediate die state has obverse and reverse flowlines with blurry die scratches left of STATES and through RICA. The border dentils are weak but complete. Lovely chocolate-brown and steel surfaces show full satiny cartwheel luster. Only a few minuscule marks include a short, microscopic scratch left of the coronet. Noyes lists a couple dozen Mint State examples of this variety in his census.From The Adam Mervis Large Cent Collection.(Registry values: N1793)
