Description

Well-Preserved 1888 Half Dollar, MS66

1888 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Half dollar mintage numbers dropped dramatically in the last two years of the 1870s and stayed low for all of the 1880s, as silver bullion was used primarily to produce Morgan dollars. Though the 1888 mintage was the highest for the decade, that total was just 12,001 coins. The fields of this high-end example are smooth and reflective, with a few bronze patches accenting a blush of magenta and sea-green toning. Population: 19 in 66, 4 finer (8/08).(Registry values: N2998)
