1829 50C Small Letters AU53 NGC. O-103, R.1. A triangular die lump near the rim, about five dentils to the left of the date, marks this obverse. The reverse die, carried over from the O-102 die marriage, has an irregular stairstep top on the flag of the 5 in 50 C. The D in UNITED is recut on its lower edge, and several stripes extend upward into the crossbars. This coin has muted dove-gray, lustrous surfaces with glints of orange at the rims.
