Description

High-End MS64 Red and Brown 1955/55 Cent

1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS64 Red and Brown NGC. An interesting coin from the aspect of the Red and Brown designation. The obverse is completely red with rich cherry-red color over that side. The reverse has an even overlay of olive-brown. It is easy to see the red luster that lies beneath the color on the reverse, suggesting this piece may have been displayed in an environment that caused the reverse to tone but not the obverse. Examination with a loupe fails to reveal the normally expected abrasions and carbon spots that are almost always seen on this issue. With surfaces of this quality, one expects a star after the grade or a CAC sticker. Exceptional quality for this challenging issue.(Registry values: N1793)
