Marc Antony, as Imperator and Triumvir (43-30 BC). AR denarius (17mm, 6h). NGC Fine, bankers marks. Legionary issue, mint traveling with Antony in Greece (Aegae or Patrae), 32-31 BC. ANT•AVG• / III•VIR•R•P•C, war galley under oar right with triple ram prow and scepter tied with fillet / LEG•XVII•CLASS•ICAE, aquila between two signa. Crawford 544/17. Flashy rainbow toning.Legio XVII Classicae was raised by Marc Antony and disbanded by Octavian in 31 BC after his victory at the Battle at Actium.
