1794 S-24, B-8 Cent, Good 6
Double Struck on an Incomplete Planchet
1794 1C Head of 1794 -- Double Struck, Curved Clip -- Good 6
NGC. S-24, B-8, R.1. Our EAC Grade Good 6. Ex: Mervis
Collection. Breen Die State indeterminate but late with reverse
swelling. The incomplete planchet has a curved clip at 6 o'clock,
and this piece is boldly double struck, with the second strike
about 10 degrees off-center. The two strikes are vertically aligned
with the date of the second strike above that of the first strike.
Smooth dark gray-brown and olive surfaces show minor porosity at
the left obverse. Double struck 1794 cents are rare and seldom
available.Ex: Goldberg Coins (9/2008), lot 306; Dan Holmes (Goldberg Coins, 9/2010), lot 369.
