1878-S $1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. This is a richly toned Gem example of this first-year San Francisco Mint issue, with lavender and sapphire patina in generous supply on the obverse, while the reverse shows silver centers tinged with sage at the rims. Generous luster proceeds from each side, despite the moderate toning. A prize for color collectors.(Registry values: P2, N491)
