Description

Select Mint State 1854 Type Two Gold Dollar

1854 G$1 Type Two MS63 PCGS. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth (2006) point out that prices for Type Two gold dollars are kept surprisingly high for such high mintage issues, due to the extra market pressure created by type collectors. This Select example is boldly struck and only a bit weak on Liberty's hair and on the numeral 8 in the date. The luster is unimpaired and surface marks are minimal for the grade.
