Description

(1837-42) G$1 C. Bechtler Dollar, N Reversed--Damaged, Planchet Flaws--ANACS. AU50 Details. K-4, R.4. The N in ONE was entered backwards into the die, and the As in the legend lack crossbars. The Bechtler Mint was popular in the antebellum South despite such private mint blunders. This example appears to be completely unworn, but is wavy and has been cleaned. A lamination is prominent above the 8 C in 28 C, and it exhibits pinscratches from an attempt at improvement. Listed on page 360 of the 2010 Guide Book.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2B98, PCGS# 10055, Greysheet# 11734)
