Magnentius, Western usurper (AD 350-353). AR heavy siliqua (20mm, 3.05 gm, 6h). NGC AU 4/5 - 3/5. Lugdunum, AD 350-353. D N MAGNEN-TIVS P F AVG, bareheaded, draped and cuirassed bust of Magnentius right / FELICITA-S PERPETVA, Victory walking left, holding wreath in right hand and palm branch over left shoulder, LVG in exergue. RIC 120 corrected (Victory with palm branch instead of trophy) (R2). RSC 3†a corrected (same). Evidently much rarer than the RIC / RSC listings might indicate, none having been sold at auction since 2000. Dark gray-blue toning, light toned-over scrape to cheek.Auction Info
