Description

Key-date of the "Toucan" Type

Pedro II gold 10000 Reis 1849 AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM460, LMB-629, Guimaraes-1849-1.1. Mintage: 1,678. The first year and scarcest by far of this fleeting issue depicting the young emperor with a chin-strap beard and a high-collar vest, a type nicknamed "Toucan Chin" in Brazilian numismatics. The present offering displays fully-engraved motifs and a lovely peach tone indicative of an older cleaning, tied in quality with the AU Details RLM specimen.
