Description

Republic Specimen 1/2 Sucre 1884-HEATON SP67 NGC, Heaton mint, KM52, Sweeny-EC8, Carr-193. A stunning jewel of a coin whose appeal reaches well beyond the expected audience of Ecuadorian collectors to that of all collectors valuing pieces that demonstrate the utmost pristine originality. It may come as no surprise that this elite gem outranks its next competitor at NGC by a full six points, preserving its same relative position as the single-finest example in the NGC Census as it held when offered in the Lissner Collection in 2014. An examination of PCGS's census shows a lone SP65 example certified, only further underscoring the very special nature of this offering. Gunmetal tone explodes into glowing tangerine and seafoam highlights as the eye moves outward from the centers, providing a crowning aesthetic touch to surfaces that retain an essentially undisturbed appearance. Underlying reflectivity is expressed throughout glossy fields, culminating in a medallic sharpness to the features that extends to even the most minute elements within the reverse arms.
