Description

1797 1/2 C 1 Above 1, C-1, B-1, R.2, VF20 PCGS. Manley Die State 5.0. This is the latest die state recorded in the Manley reference with a shattered obverse die. The obverse die is bulged at the upper left, and in the right field, weakening TY and Liberty's nose, and obliterating ICA on the reverse. This lovely olive-brown half cent has smooth surfaces with a lone green corrosion spot above the second 7 in the date. Close examination reveals what may be traces of undertype from a TAL token, although specific design elements are unrecognizable. Our EAC grade Fine 12.
