Description

1914-S Buffalo Nickel, MS66+
CAC Approved, Conditionally Rare

1914-S 5C MS66+ PCGS. CAC. Beautifully lustrous surfaces yield glistening luminance throughout the fields, while the design elements exhibit outstanding overall sharpness that is virtually full throughout. Vivid sun-gold toning paints the margins, and the interiors display lovely ice-blue and delicate lavender toning. No discernible abrasions are worthy of mention.

The 1914-S is one of the better-made San Francisco dates in the Buffalo nickel series, and examples are plentiful as fine as MS65. However, Premium Gems are scarce, even Plus-designated pieces in this grade are rare. We have previously handled only three MS66+ examples. One of those was CAC approved, in our February 2017 Long Beach Signature, where it realized $14,100. The current coin is fresh in our auctions and an ideal Registry coin. Finer pieces are rare. Population: 85 in 66 (15 in 66+), 6 finer. CAC: 27 in 66, 0 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N2998)
