Description

1884 Cent, PR67 Red Cameo
Sole Finest at NGC

1884 1C PR67 Red Cameo NGC. Snow-PR2. While the 1884 is one of the most common dates in the proof series, designated Red Cameo examples are decidedly rare. This Superb Gem proof is one of only 15 Cameo pieces certified full Red by either NGC or PCGS in any grade, and it is tied with just one other at PCGS for overall finest (9/25). The rich and flashy orange fields are deeply mirrored with light mint frost over the devices, which gives the coin a pronounced two-tone effect. Nearly flawless surfaces show a tiny planchet flake near the first 8 in the date and a few widely scattered carbon specks, while a full strike defines the motifs throughout both sides. Census: 1 in 67 Cameo, 0 finer (9/25).
