Description

Gem Brown Plain Rims Liberty & Security
Washington Penny, Baker-30

(1795) Washington Liberty & Security Penny MS65 Brown PCGS. CAC. Baker-30, W-11050, R.2. The "Plain Rims" variety, identified by its broad, lumpy obverse rim. A handsome example of this popular Washington penny. The steel-gray fields are moderately reflective, and substantial glimpses of the initial fire-red iridescence fill the legends and shield. Marks are absent save for one brief hair-thin line near the chin. The portrait is based upon the 1791 large and small eagle cents, while the reverse is clearly patterned after the 1795 Liberty and Security token. Listed on page 80 of the 2012 Guide Book. Population: 4 in 65 Brown, 1 finer (6/12).

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2B7V, PCGS# 767, Greysheet# 415)
