With a mintage of only 264,000 coins, the 1916-D Mercury dime became an instant numismatic delight upon its coinage, and collectors searched circulation for years seeking examples. This is a pleasing lower-end Mint State Full Bands piece, showing satiny luster with champagne-tinged slate-gray patina. Hints of russet appear in the most protected areas of the fields.
