Description

1915-S Buffalo Nickel, MS67
Tied for the Finest Certified

1915-S 5C MS67 PCGS. Only a few 1915-S Buffalo nickels have achieved the MS67 grade level and none are finer. This is just the fourth offering of an MS67 1915-S nickel in our auctions since we started our Permanent Auction Archives more than 30 years ago. The previous three offerings, two in 2009 and one in 2021, were for two different coins. Most surviving examples from the 1.5-million-coin mintage of 1915-S nickels are in lower grades. Examples are generally available through MS65, but rarely finer. PCGS has graded just 51 examples in MS66, and only seven similar examples graded MS67, with none finer (7/25). This Superb Gem features vibrant gold, emerald, and iridescent toning over lustrous medium gray surfaces. All of the obverse and reverse design elements are exceptionally well defined.(Registry values: N4719)
