Sole-Certified Specimen Pechugon Peso

Republic Specimen Peso 1867-So SP65 NGC, Santiago mint, KM141, WR-11, Elizondo-113. "1 Peso" variety. A storied one-year type boasting the acclaimed anatomically incorrect Condor, leading to the nickname Pechugón, or broad-chested. This Pechugón was only struck for a few months in 1867, the Chilean authorities ultimately deciding to commission the Philadelphia mint with new hubs and master dies. This is the rarer variety with "1 Peso" in the obverse legend, and even more difficult with this Specimen designation - no other example is known to either NGC or PCGS. Visually, this piece does not disappoint. Dramatic iridescent toning coats the surfaces, further amplified by the bloom soaked into the flan. One of the sleeper keys from the Latin American Crown series, and certainly one of the highlights from the Eternal Collection.
