Description

Magnificent Gilt-Bronze Transvaal Pattern Proof 1874 Pond

Transvaal. Republic gilt-bronze Proof Pattern "Burgers" Pond 1874 PR63 NGC, Heaton mint, cf. KM-XPn7 (for bronze), Hern-B4. By Leonard Wyon. Short (coarse) beard, reeded edge, coin axis. A truly exceptional opportunity, of unknown mintage which must be very low as a quick glance at available sources revealed no recent appearances to marketplace. Originating from the Heaton Mint in Birmingham, England, before the completion of the gold versions, this particular specimen is remarkably attractive. It possesses supremely pleasing silky golden surfaces throughout, well-articulated detailing befitting its technical specification, and a notable glossy sheen pervading the fields.
