Description

Central American Republic 8 Reales 1831 CR-F AU55 NGC, San Jose mint, KM22, WR-1, Elizondo-2. One-year Costa Rican type not to be confused with the more prevalent emissions from the Guatemala City mint. For a type that can sometimes present dull surfaces even in moderate to high grades, this exceptional example projects polychromatic luster that emanates from the many recesses tucked between the sun rays as well as the peripheral legends. In addition, the surviving detail on the sunface plus the sheer originality of the patina make this example of an already desirable type an absolute catch for the discerning, quality-oriented collector.
