Description

Carol I 5 Lei 1885-B MS62 PCGS, Bucharest mint, KM17.1, Schäffer/Stambuliu-38. With a mintage of only 40,000 and the commercial activity often required of this workhorse type, we hardly ever see an example this well preserved, appearing conservatively graded at that. Soft pastels interweave with lavender to project an eminently pleasing appearance, and fully elevated by a gentle underlying mint glow. Currently, none certify finer at PCGS and will command a premium as such.
