Description

Second-Finest "Wedding Schauguldiner" of Maximilian I

Maximilian I (1493-1519) "Wedding" Guldiner 1479-Dated (after 1511) AU55 NGC, Hall mint, Dav-Unl., Schulten-4474, Egg-15. By Ulrich Ursentaler. Displaying profound influence from the Renaissance era, this radiant 'Schauguldiner' is comparable to the renowned 1486 Sigismund of Tyrol Guldiner, making it one of the most seminal Crown-sized coins of the period. Crafted by Ulrich Ursentaler, a master die engraver, it marks the consequential union of Archduke Maximilian to Maria of Burgundy, an alliance which provided immense geographical influence to the House of Habsburg. Virtually unhandled and clearly the product of long-term storage in an advanced cabinet as denoted by fully embossed portraits against neon blue silhouettes and pewter-gray fields. Only a single example of just 6 witnessed by NGC ranks finer, making this an opportunity not to be missed.
