Description

Republic "Montevideo Siege" Peso 1844 MS63 NGC, Montevideo mint, KM5, Elizondo-1. Coin alignment. The legendary "Peso Fuerte" struck during the Montevideo Siege, of the utmost importance in Uruguayan numismatics. This issue is the first to display Uruguay's national coat of arms and the last Latin American siege coin. Largely untoned, this Choice Mint State beauty displays an alluring, unbounded glimmer that would possibly be worthy of an even loftier assignment if it weren't for a few stray abrasions on the reverse. A type we always relish when given the opportunity to present to market.
