B-7, BB-18, Three Leaves
Head of 1794
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves, B-7, BB-18, R.3, XF45
PCGS. Bowers Die State I. Popular as a Three Leaves variety
with the Head of 1794 (the only 1795 Flowing Hair dollar that has
that design combination), the B-7, BB-18 is readily available in
lower circulated grades but becomes scarce at the About
Uncirculated level. This Choice XF example is only slightly
less-scarce, with sharply defined motifs and minor high point
wear.Olive-gray toning displays traces of luster amid golden undertones, plus occasional blue accents. Struck on a heavy planchet, numerous Mint-made adjustment marks crisscross the obverse, congregating in the area of Liberty's ear. Few other marks exist on either the obverse or reverse. We note a tiny, shallow rim bump above Y in LIBERTY, but it is of little consequence. This original example is well-centered and undeniably attractive.
