Description

Elusive Triple Piefort 2-1/2 Gulden

Wilhelmina Specimen Piefort 2-1/2 Gulden 1898 SP63 PCGS, Utrecht mint, KM-P18, Schulman-782b (RRR). 37.2x7mm. 74.31gm. A staggeringly significant "thick cut" striking of this 2-1/2 Gulden, nearly 3 times the weight of the circulation issue due to its incredible 7mm width. Exhibiting Proof-quality surfaces that have acquired handsome steel and charcoal gray patination over the years. A few light wisps are scattered about but overall the condition of this rarity is very Choice, creating a satisfying and distinctive visual experience. Pieforts of classic silver Dutch numismatic emissions are rare and ever-desirable across many reigns, but we could find no auction records for similar productions of Wilhelmina coinage. A wondrous opportunity for the connoisseur of Dutch rarities.
