Description

1795 BD-2 Ten Dollar, AU Details
13 Leaves Type Coin

1795 $10 13 Leaves, BD-2, High R.4 -- Cleaned -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/d, reverse lapped, the usual state for these dies. Bright yellow-gold patina is somewhat hairlined from an old cleaning, as noted, but the coin remains an accessible option for first-year type collectors. BD-2 is the second most plentiful of the 1795 eagle die pairings, although it is seen much less frequently than BD-1. Both of these die marriages are 13 Leaves issues, representing one of the major Guide Book varieties. While recent offerings of higher-end AU examples have reached levels close to six figures, this lightly impaired piece will be a welcome alternative option. No obvious adjustment marks are seen, and the strike is even. Weakness on the eagle's breast is typical.
