Description

1872-CC Ten Dollar, AU50
Challenging Early Issue

1872-CC $10 AU50 NGC. Winter 1-B. An early Carson City issue, the 1872-CC has a mintage of just 4,600 pieces. Two die pairs exist, but Winter 1-A, with a level mintmark, is seen less often than Winter 1-B, with a low second C in the mintmark. Only a single '72-CC has been certified as Mint State by either NGC or PCGS, which ensures that even advanced collectors must pursue circulated examples. This apricot-gold representative was plucked from commerce relatively quickly, and is refreshingly free from distracting marks. It shows pleasing sharpness on the plumage and stars.(Registry values: N7079)
