Description

1794 S-29, B-11 Cent, AU Details
Exceptionally Sharp

1794 1C Head of 1794, S-29, B-11, R.2 -- Obverse Repaired -- NGC Details. AU. Ex: Carlyle Luer Collection. Breen Die State IV with a faint crack from the rim to the bust through the left corner of the 4. This olive and deep mahogany cent has exceptional sharpness for the variety that would easily place the piece among the 10 finest examples, except that peripheral roughness appears on both sides with reverse verdigris. The obverse repair is not readily apparent. Alfred Bonard's envelope notes that his piece was from the Henry Chapman and Gaskill Collections. A similar pedigree appears in Del Bland's Census in the Breen Large Cent Encyclopedia, except that entry has been updated to a known owner today. Our EAC grade VF30.
Ex: Alfred Bonard.
From The Carlyle A. Luer Collection.
