Description

1945-S Dime, MS67 Full Bands
Scarce Micro S Mintmark, FS-512

1945-S 10C Micro S, FS-512, MS67 Full Bands PCGS. Most Mercury dime collectors eschew the various mintmark size varieties on San Francisco issues from the 1940s. But specialists in the series make an exception for the distinctive 1945-S Micro S. The tiny mintmark punch was not used on any other issue during the 1940s. This well-struck example displays variegated forest-green and golden-brown obverse toning. The reverse is brilliant aside from peripheral chestnut patina, and displays a few minor field grazes. Population: 34 in 67 (2 in 67+) Full Bands, 3 finer (1/16).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2015), lot 3917.
