Key First-Year Variety
1864 2C Small Motto, FS-401, MS64 Red NGC. The 1864 Small
Motto is the only two cent issue that competes to any degree with
the 1872 in high-grade scarcity. This Choice Red example displays a
bold strike and shimmering luster with hints of burgundy toning on
each side. Abrasions are minimal for the grade. Housed in a prior
generation holder. Census: 13 in 64 Red, 22 finer (6/16).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 38234, Base PCGS# 3581)
