Description

1850 Liberty Double Eagle, AU58
First Year of the Denomination

1850 $20 AU58 NGC. From a substantial Philadelphia mintage of more than 1.1 million pieces, the 1850 Liberty double eagle is a popular first-year type issue. This impressive near-Mint example exhibits just a touch of wear on the high points of the strongly impressed design elements and the lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces retain much of their original mint luster, with a few traces of prooflike reflectivity in sheltered areas. NGC has graded 74 numerically finer examples (1/18).(Registry values: N1793)
