IN at Left, Noe-1, Salmon 1-A
1652 Oak Tree Shilling, IN at Left, Noe-1, W-430, Salmon 1-A,
R.3, XF40 PCGS. 72 grains. Christopher Salmon notes this
variety is the earliest rocker press variety. This impressive XF
specimen offers lightly abraded medium gray surfaces, with
well-detailed design elements that show just a touch of softness on
the lower tree trunk. The obverse of this piece is just slightly
off center compared to the reverse. Listed on page 36 of the 2024
Guide Book.Ex: S. Benton Emery and Walter P. Nichols Collections (Bowers and Merena, 11/1984), lot 2.
