Vittorio Emanuele III gold 20 Lire 1926-R MS66 NGC, Rome mint, KM48, Fr-28, Pag-668 (R4). Struck from a paltry mintage of just 40 pieces, any opportunity to see, let alone acquire, a 1926-dated 20 Lire will be cause for celebration. A diminutive behemoth of the modern Italian series, with any denomination bearing this date immensely covetable and highly contested. Immediately luminous upon close inspection, with honeyed gold tone permeating every detail. The reverse remains especially fine, broadcasting fields virtually free of imperfection. Only four are currently certified by NGC, this being tied with one other for the finest extant. With examples seen at market maybe once every decade, we anticipate an appropriate, fervent collector response.
