Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar, MS62
Ample Field Reflectivity

1889-CC $1 MS62 PCGS. VAM-2. Ex: Desert Find. This is another example of the Desert Find 1889-CC dollars that must have just missed a Prooflike designation from PCGS. Ample reflectivity spans the fields, in equal measure on each side. Frost-white luster throughout the devices complements a bold strike, and grade-limiting abrasions are uniformly light and scattered, with none posing significant distraction. Indeed, this piece is quite appealing for the grade, in keeping with norms for this remarkable group of discovery coins, and yet to be reviewed by CAC.

The VAM-2 dies are in their earliest state on this coin, with out the crack through the date seen on most examples. Die lines in LIBERTY and throughout the reverse eagle confirm the attribution.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
