Description

Stunning Gem Proof 2 Pounds

George IV gold Proof 2 Pounds 1826 PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC, KM701, S-3799, W&R-228, Fr-374. Bare head type. Breaking through the relative logjam in grades of PR63-64 to achieve Gem status, an achievement that seems warranted based upon close inspection, which reveals only innocuous hairlines and an utter absence of erosion to the devices. Faint burnt-orange toning appears within the folds of the mantle, similar to other examples of the type that we have come across. The highlight of this admirable piece is the quality of Proof frost that lays atop the devices, easily earning the Ultra Cameo superlative while also providing a feast for the eyes.
