Description
1909 Ten Dollar, MS65+
Conditionally Challenging Issue
1909 $10 MS65+ PCGS. The 1909 has a relatively low mintage
of 184,789 pieces. Among regular Philadelphia issues of Indian
eagles, only the 1914 and the 1908 No Motto have lower productions.
Nonetheless, it is an available issue in typical Mint State grades.
Near-Gems are scarce, and Gems are rare. The present high-grade
apricot-gold example is splendidly smooth, save for a solitary
diagonal line on the cheekbone. The strike is bold, and cartwheel
luster dominates both sides. The lot provides an important
opportunity for the series collector. Population: 21 in 65 (4 in
65+), 12 finer (5/23).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28GM, PCGS# 8862, Greysheet# 9749)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
