1936 Lincoln Cent, MS65 Red
FS-101, Doubled Die Obverse
1936 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS65 Red PCGS. Type 1,
CONECA 1-O-IV. A few prominent doubled dies exist for this issue,
but the FS-101 is the most famous, thanks to strong spreads on
LIBERTY, 1936, and TRUST (particularly the R). This Red Gem offers
a pleasing mix of colors, copper-orange at the margins with paler
gold on the interior. There are a couple of tiny flecks on the
reverse, but no distracting abrasions. PCGS reports only nine
numerically finer doubled die obverse examples in Red (8/25).
Population: 5 in 65 Red, 0 finer (8/25).Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2012), lot 4381.
